General information

Poland belongs to the Schengen area but not the eurozone. Citizens of the European Union and of many other countries do not need visa to enter Poland. A list of "visa-free" countries can be found here. Please, confirm with your local Polish embassy if you need a visa to enter Poland. In case you need an invitation letter, send us an e-mail. The Polish currency is the zloty (zł or PLN): 1€~4.50PLN. 

Travelling to Warsaw

  • by plane: Warsaw is served by two airports: Chopin Airport (WAW) for major airlines and Modlin Airport (WMI) for low-cost traffic. Chopin airport is located 10 km south of the city centre and is connected to it by the SKM train lines S2 and S3 to Warsaw Central Railway station (Dworzec Centralny), and by bus lines 175, 148, and 188. The cost of a taxi trip to the center is around 30-50 PLN. More information here. Modlin airport is located 40 km north of the city centre and is connected to it by train and numerous shuttle services. More information here.

  • by train: the main train station in Warsaw in Dworzec Centralny. It is served by trains from/to Berlin, Prague, and other central European cities. More information here.

  • by bus: numerous international bus lines to Warsaw exist and they usually stop in Dworzec Warszawa Zachodnia (Warsaw West Station).

Transportation

Warsaw ZTM public transportation company offers many routes by bus, tramway or metro. One can calculate itineraries on this website. AndroidAppleWindows apps are also available. 20-, 75-minute, and one-day tickets can be bought from vending machines located in many places around the city and metro stations, or sometimes directly in buses from automats. More information here. Please remember to validate your ticket when entering buses or tramways.

Many taxi companies exist in Warsaw. A list of taxi companies can be found here. Uber and similar services are also widely used in Warsaw.

Please, note that we are not offering help with hotel booking and HAVE NOT authorized any company to do so. We are aware of some company contacting registered participants to help with booking. We recommend that you please treat this as SPAM.

 

Each participant is asked to arrange her/his own accommodation. There are many hotels located in the center of Warsaw including most international chains. e.g. Hotel GromadaIbis Budget CentrumIbis Stare MiastoIbis Centrum, Mercure CentrumNovotel Centrum .. Airbnb and similar companies are also popular.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place on 6th September (Thursday) 19:00-23:00 in the Belvedere Restaurant located in the middle of the Łazienki Park. Registration desk will guide for the easiest access to the place.

Financial support

We have the possibility to offer limited financial support to a small number of young researchers (Ph.D. students and young post-docs). If you need support, please emphasize it in your registration form with sufficient justification.  The final decision on which participants will receive support will be made by mid-May, end-May, 2018.

Proceedings

We do not plan to publish proceedings from the workshop.
